Auctiva's FREE Counter Book: "A Guide to Researching Land In Oklahoma"
The history of Oklahoma begins in 1803, with the Louisiana Purchase and Territorial Claims of 1803.
Oklahoma & Indian Territories did not become the State of Oklahoma until Nov. 16, 1907
Book by Katie Bush, Oklahoma Historical Society
"A Guide to Researching Land in Oklahoma" is an 8 1/2" x 11" book, bound in glossy, heavy paper stock, containing 38 pages with full-color maps, a multitude of information on the subject matter, and extensive Section 7 entitled Contact Information for Record Holdings/Archives; a section on Useful References found at the Oklahoma Historical Society Research, a Glossary and very extensive Bibliography.
This book is worth its weight in gold for the sole explanation and drawing entitled: Diagram of Quarter Sections and Subdivisions of One Section of Land or 640 acres. Never again will you be confused reading land descriptions such as the
"W 1/2 of NE 1/4 of SE 1/4 of SE 1/4," defining 5 acres!
The book is a must for any genealogist researching land properties in Oklahoma.
