This book is divided into two volumes (Tomes). The first, which comprises pages 11 through 141, is entitled "Guide des Recherches Genealogiques" and has a lot of general information on genealogical research. The second, which comprises pages 143 through 251, is entitled "Bibliographie Genealogique Alsacienne" and has a very detailed listing of sources of importance to Alsatian genealogy.
Alsace is a cultural and historical area in eastern France, on the west bank of the Rhine River and adjoining Germany and Switzerland. Its major city is Strasbourg where this book was published.

In his first book, EINAR AND LINA, the author wrote about his father Einar, coming as am immigrant to American from Sweden, and settling in Milaca, Minnesota where he worked in the saw mill and in the lumber camps. There he met his wife Lina, a Swedish immigrant girl. They settled on a wild piece of land and raised eight children, while developing a productive farm.
The author of this book, THE FIFTH KID, takes the story through the next generation. He shares his early life and school days, how he became owner the Greendale Farm, developed an outstanding herd of registered Holstein cattle, married and had two children, and finally became a banker. There are many humorous incidents as he relates his life's experiences. It is written in the format of vignettes or short sketches for your interest and pleasure.
Very good vintage condition with only slightly bumped corners. This has a gift subscription in the front on title page and in pencil gift givers dated and signed names on contents page. Otherwise unmarked.
