    Jackson county is in southern Illinois and contains the following towns Ava, Campbell Hill, Carbondale, De Soto, Dowell, Elkville, Gorham, Grand Tower, Makanda, Murphysboro and Vergennes.

    Note
    The original copy of the book was quite age yellowed so a good black & white contrast image could not be made. The images to the right shows actual pages.
