Plat Book ofBureau County Illinois
Originally published W. W. Hixson & Company, Rockford IL, no publication date, most likely 1930's.
This is a reproduction on CD.
Plat books can be an aid to genealogists for following land ownership in families and locating the names of neighbors of ancestors. Plat books contain maps of each township with land parcels outlined with the name of the land owner and acreage of parcel. Also the maps will list cemeteries, schools and roads. The scan at the right illustrates the available information. The bad news is that there is no index for the book. This plat book contains maps of the townships.
Bureau county is in northern Illinois. The county seat is Princeton. Other towns include Arlington, Buda, Bureau Junction, Cherry, Dalzell, De Pue, Dover, Hollowayville, La Moille, Ladd, Malden, Manlius, Mineral, Neponset, New Bedford, Ohio, Seatonville, Sheffield, Spring Valley, Tiskilwa, Walnut, and Wyanet.
