Description

BLACKMAN and ALLIED FAMILIES Compiled for NATHAN LINCOLN BLACKMAN by Alfred L. Holman, Member New England Historic Genealogical Society.
PRIVATELY PRINTED for NATHAN L. BLACKMAN, Chicago, 1928. Printed by R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company at the Lakeside Press, Chicago. First (and only) Edition.
Hardcover Book, no dustjacket as printed, 6x9.5 inches, top page edges gilt, 258 pages.
Laid in is a folded single page sheet with a family tree starting with John Keigwin, b.1642 d.1771. It includes the Keigwin / Cagwin and Joslin / Joslyn families.
Book previously owned by G.W. CAGWIN, whose family descends from the Keigwin line which is in this book. His signature and place, Larkspur, California, are on the front free endpaper.
Illustrated with some b&w plates, photographs of people, gravesites, and genealogical documents, and a two page chart showing the Nathan Lincoln Blackman Ancestral Register.
GOOD condition, the covers have wear to the spine ends and corner tips, and some shelf rubs; internally, there is shorelining / staining to the front margin and bottom corner of the first few pages and to pages 191 to 207 (not affecting text), there is a paper clip stain to the top edge of 4 pages, 176 to 179, a few pages have offsetting from where a newspaper article was laid in (article not present), and there are some pencil marks and margin notes here and there throughout, notably in the Keigwin and Joslin family sections (presumably made by G.W. Cagwin, the previous owner of this book); still a solid and presentable copy.
Rare ORIGINAL 1928 FIRST EDITION. (Beware print on demand copies that sometimes are presented as original editions, e.g. a description only mentions the date 1928 but also states something to the effect of 'printed on order'. Read descriptions fully and carefully.)
A treasure trove of genealogical information related to the Blackman and many related family lines.
